Today Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 90th birthday.
Although she was actually born on April 21, the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II is celebrated each year in the UK on a weekend in June for purely practical reasons. The day usually presents more acceptable weather for a public party!
However, in 2016 the party is being moved up a month, and celebrated over four days from Thursday, May 12th to Sunday, May 15th 2016.
The festivities this year will include a look back at her birth, through World War II, her marriage and family, and her more than 60-year reign as the world's longest-reigning monarch.Queen's Official Birthday is celebrated as a public holiday in 53 Commonwealth countries. The exact date of the queen's birthday celebration varies from country to country.
